Math Lab (all year course either everyday or every other day)
Math Lab is taken in conjunction with Math 6, 7, or 8 as a separate math class. This class is
designed to support and pre-teach concepts and skills that are being taught in Math 6, 7, or 8
class. There is no additional homework and there are no additional assessments for this course.
Writers Workshop
Writer’s Workshop is a support class offered to select students in 7th and 8th grade. Students
are provided with teacher support and class time to work on assignments, papers, and projects
related to the ELA curriculum. Writing Workshop is organized into three distinct sections: review,
enrichment, and application of instruction. One-on-one teacher support and cooperative learning
is a main focus during this time. Upon completion of Writers Workshop, students will have
developed a better appreciation of the English language and learned to take predictable
approaches to writing using a variety of organizers and outlines. They should also have learned
to use a variety of strategies and resources to recognize mistakes in their writing, learned to use
a variety of craft strategies to bring more detail to their writing, and learned to have applied the
writing process in depth.
