60052 Drawing
Drawing students work with a variety of media and complete assignments that build skills in observational and exploratory
drawing. The fundamentals of design, composition, color, and value are explored in depth. Students are given
demonstrations in a variety of techniques which increase competency with a wide range of drawing materials. Individual
expression, and experimentation is highly encouraged with added emphasis on development of artist’s style and voice.
Students may repeat this course for credit and will have more advanced assignments.

601220 Painting
Students will learn how to paint in various media including tempera, watercolor, acrylic, and beyond. This course will teach
basic techniques, such as shading, blending, layering, and enlarging while working on a range of different supports.
Demonstrations are given in paint mixing and application as well as proper brush use for desired appearance and paint
type. This course may be repeated for credit.

601230 Advanced Painting
In Advanced Painting, students will expand on the fundamental techniques and concepts explored in Painting 1, deepening
their understanding of composition, color theory, and various painting mediums. This course encourages students to
experiment with different styles and approaches, from realism to abstraction, while developing a personal artistic voice.
Through a combination of guided exercises, individual projects, students will explore more advanced techniques in
watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media painting. By the end of the course, students will have refined their technical skills and
gained greater confidence in expressing their unique artistic perspectives.

601320 Photography
Photography offers students the knowledge of camera types, exposure, and composition. Students learn how to take
photographs, develop film in the darkroom and make enlargements, techniques needed to develop black and white film as
well as basic Photoshop skills. This course has digital DSLR and some SLR cameras for the students to use.

60142BL Advanced Photography
Advanced photography is a class where students increase their skills in the darkroom and/or digital. Students are
encouraged to develop advanced emphasis and creative thinking with an emphasis on composition and studio lighting.
This class will allow students to learn more about photography through the use of traditional and experimental darkroom/
digital experience. Students will complete a series of projects that will include a variety of studio techniques and
manipulations. The culmination of their work is through the form of a sketchbook. This class can be repeated multiple times
for credit.
